  1. !Styles 1.05 by Gerald Williams, 22/10/91.

  3.  
  4.  Styles is an application to complement Computer Concepts Impression Junior.
  5.  
  6.  Styles, as its name may suggest, allows styles to be set up and used in
  7. Impression Junior in a similar way to that of Impression.
  8.  
  9.  Styles 1.05 is a significant improvement over Styles 1.02.
  10.  
  11. New features added are:
  12.  
  13. 1. Colour control (background and foreground)
  14. 2. Strikeout option
  15. 3. Lock to linespace option
  16. 4. Left, right, centre & decimal tabs can now be used.
  17. 5. Error checking now added - virtually impossible for Impression Junior to
  18.    misinterpret the Style file.
  19. 6. Any style name can now be used including the word "sub".
  20. 7. Icons have now been improved.
  21. 8. No longer causes an error when window is closed with adjust.

  23.  To use, click its icon on the iconbar to open the main window. In this
  24. window, you will be able to change a number of settings.
  25.  
  26.  
  27. Style name 
  28. ----------
  29.  Type in the name of the style you wish to create. Normal spaces are not
  30. allowed, but if you do want to have a space in the style name, hard spaces
  31. can be used instead (ALT-space).
  32.  
  33. Font name
  34. ---------
  35.  Type in the full font name, or select a font from the menu (opened by
  36. pressing menu over the icon). This menu contains the set of fonts
  37. distributed with Impression Junior, but if you want to use a different font,
  38. you will have to type in the full name.
  39.  
  40. Font size
  41. ---------
  42.  Type in the number (point size) or select one of the 7 font sizes available
  43. from its menu.
  44.  
  45. Font aspect
  46. -----------
  47.  Allows the font to be streched or squashed. Type in the percentage of its
  48. normal width (ie 50 for half width, 200 double width) or select one of the
  49. options from its menu.  
  50.  
  51. Colours
  52. -------
  53.  Colour can be set for both the foreground and background. In the spaces
  54. provided, type in the percentage of red,green and blue in the resultant
  55. colour. Alternatively, a choice of red,green,blue,black, or white is
  56. available from its menu (opened by pressing menu over one of the icons).
  57.  To have a colour which is not on the menu, use Impression Junior's colour
  58. editor to select the required colour, and then type in the percentages into
  59. the appropriate spaces in Styles.

  61. Effects
  62. -------
  63.  
  64. Script: Select no script, subscript, or superscript using the radio icons.
  65.  
  66. Underline: Click its icon to select/deselect.
  67.  
  68. Strikeout: Draws a line through the centre of the text, click its icon to
  69.            select/deselect.
  70.  
  71. Lock to linespace: Keeps the lines of text in multiple columns lined up
  72.                    correctly. Click its icon to select/deselect.

  74. Justify
  75. -------
  76.  Select left,right,full,centre justification.
  77.  
  78. Tabs
  79. ----
  80.  
  81. Tab types:
  82.  
  83. Left:   The normal type used in Impression Junior, the text is lined up with
  84.         its left side to the tab point. Its icon is a triangle with its left
  85.         side black.
  86.  
  87. Right:  The text is lined up with its right side to the tab point. Its icon
  88.         is a triangle with its right side black.
  89.  
  90. Centre: The text is lined up so that the centre of the text is in line with
  91.         the tab point. Its icon is a white triangle.
  92.  
  93. Decimal: Text is lined up so that decimal points are lined up with the tab
  94.          point. This is very useful for lining up columns of numbers. Its
  95.          icon is a white triangle with a dot in the middle.
  96.  
  97.  Type in the fields the number of each tab type you want to appear in the
  98. style. When the style has been created, the tabs will all appear at 0. The
  99. tabs must be positionned in Impression Junior using  the edit ruler
  100. facility. Tabs can be  deleted as normal, but only left tabs can be added,
  101. so make sure you have plenty of each when you create the style.
  102.  
  103. Style Creation
  104. --------------
  105.  To create the style, press menu in the window, to bring up the Create Style
  106. menu. Move right, then drag the icon into an Impression Junior frame.
  107. Impression Junior will bring up a window. Click OK to load the file as
  108. ASCII.
  109.  
  110. To select the style from Impression Junior, press menu, move to the ruler
  111. submenu, and select the style name from the ruler list.

  114. The program
  115. -----------
  116. Archway 2 was used to write the application.
  117.  
  118. Styles is Shareware - It may be freely distributed, so long as none of the
  119.                       files are altered in any way, and that no extra files 
  120.                       are added to the directory.
  121.                       If you find it useful, a small fee of ú3 should be sent
  122.                       to me at the address below.

  124.                       updated version if I have written one, and also some 
  125.                       more software which I have written.

  127. Styles has been tested with Impression Junior version 1.12. 
  128. If you have found a bug in the program, or can think of a possible
  129. improvement, write to me, and I'll see what I can do.
